why braveart exists

BraveArt exists because traditional systems don’t reach everyone, but creativity can.

Domestic abuse has reached epidemic levels.

Over 44% of Canadian women over 15 have experienced intimate partner violence. Nova Scotia has one of the highest rates in the country. Halifax also has one of the highest per-capita rates of human trafficking in Canada.  This crisis calls for creative, compassionate action.

Creativity heals.

Nearly 1 in 3 survivors of domestic abuse experience long-term mental health challenges. Research shows art-based healing can reduce PTSD symptoms by up to 50%, improving mood, focus, and hope.

We're changing that through art.

BraveArt bridges the gap between healing and hope, turning creative practice into community action.

Youth engagement

The BraveArt Project has been fortunate to collaborate with community employment programs for youth. Students ages 12-18 volunteered their time creating hand-crafted cards and supported art kit assembly.

We’re passionate about nurturing creativity in the next generation.

As seen on CTV news

BraveArt founder, Jessie Taylor, joined Tia Upshaw on CTV News Your Morning Atlantic, Tia Tuesdays, to share BraveArt’s trauma-informed approach to creative healing and community impact across Nova Scotia. Watch the segment.
